Itinerant Teacher (Full Time Term Contract)4 Contracts Available The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan; Black Lake First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, and Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1,300+ students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest technology, progressively piloting programs, and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom and school curriculum. The ADEA is seeking competent, confident, motivated individuals to fill the full-time position of Itinerant Teacher. The Itinerant Teacher will be assigned to various classrooms and school settings when a classroom teacher is away on extended leave, generally for one week or longer. The position requires flexibility to teach across grade levels and subject areas, maintain continuity of learning, and support students during the classroom teachers absence. When no extended-leave assignment is required, the Itinerant Teacher will assist school and Authority staff with program planning, resource development, assessment preparation, and other instructional priorities.This competition is open to all applicants who reside in Canada; and preference will be given to First Nation or other Indigenous applicants who possess the qualifications, knowledge, and skills to meet the minimum suitability requirements as stated for the position.What We Offer:We offer paid time off such as professional development and non-instructional days, and sick days. We also provide housing, paid travel expenses, and northern allowance, and you will be surrounded by leaders and colleagues that want the best for each student and their learning and well-being.Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:· Accept assignments in various classrooms, grade levels, subject areas, and ADEA school locations when a classroom teacher is away on an extended leave, generally for one week or longer.· Review and follow the absent teachers plans, classroom routines, student support plans, and school procedures to maintain continuity of learning.· Develop, adapt, and deliver lesson and unit plans aligned with Saskatchewan curriculum outcomes and responsive to the learning needs of students.· Establish a safe, respectful, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment that reflects Denesuline culture, language, and ways of knowing.· Assess student learning, maintain accurate records, and provide timely updates to the principal, classroom teacher, students, and families, as appropriate.· Collaborate with administrators, teachers, learning support staff, educational assistants, and other school personnel to support student success and smooth transitions into and out of assignments.· When not assigned to cover an extended leave, assist with program planning, curriculum mapping, resource development, assessment preparation, intervention planning, and other instructional priorities identified by school or Authority administration.· Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school- or Authority-related activities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:· Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, organization, initiative, patience, and sound professional judgment.· Ability to quickly build positive relationships with students and establish effective classroom routines in unfamiliar settings.· Strong classroom management, instructional planning, assessment, record-keeping, and communication skills.· Working knowledge of Saskatchewan curriculum and the ability to teach and plan across multiple grade levels and subject areas.· Ability to differentiate instruction and support students social-emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual development.· Ability to incorporate land-based education, Indigenous ways of knowing, and Denesuline culture and language into programming.· Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, families, and community members.· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle student and professional information appropriately. Qualifications:· Bachelors Degree in Education or equivalent. · Must be eligible for or posses a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate. · Experience in teaching First Nations students at a remote community would be an asset.· First Aid Certification would be an asset (we pay provide training upon hire). · Related training or experience in the field of education would be a definite asset.
