DUTIES: The Bachelor of Ininimowin Instructor, reporting to the Dean of Ininimowin, is responsible for creating and delivering culturally relevant language curriculum, including experiential and land-based learning opportunities as appropriate. This role requires fluency in Ininimowin, with an emphasis on the n dialect. The instructor will design and teach a comprehensive curriculum that develops students skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, using both Standard Roman Orthography (SRO) and Cree Syllabics. Additional responsibilities include student assessment, supporting UCN promotional activities, participating in student recruitment, and assisting with program-related administrative tasks. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Aboriginal/Northern Studies or relevant combination of education and experience Fluent Cree speaker with an understanding of the various dialects spoken in Northern Manitoba Proficiency in Standard Roman Orthography (SRO) and Cree Syllabics Fluent Cree speaker with an understanding of the various dialects spoken in Northern Manitoba Competence in the four core competencies in Ininimowin: reading, writing, listening, and speaking An understanding of the relevance of revitalization of Cree language as core to culture Knowledge of culturally relevant instructional practices with Indigenous and adult learners Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal, organizational, thinking and leadership skills Experience and/or knowledge and understanding of indigenous cultures Ability to work independently as well as with others Commitment to life-long learning ASSETS: PhD in Aboriginal/Northern Studies Experience teaching introductory to upper-level Aboriginal and Northern Studies courses Experience with distance teaching technology CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada Applicants are asked to provide a cover letter and resume with their application.
