The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in instructional and assessment practices, a passion for teaching and learning, and a strong understanding of how girls learn best. This individual will also fulfill the role of Teacher Advisor and will have opportunities to be involved in the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that enhance students’ experiences at school. All members of the Physical Education department are expected to coach in the athletics program. This role will be assigned to teach two PHE and two Social Studies classes.  Qualifications·    Bachelor of Education ·    British Columbia Teachers' certification ·    Five years of secondary school teaching experience is preferred·    Secondary school qualifications, Social Studies or Humanities, Physical Education Specialist or equivalent·    Independent School experience is an asset·    Coaching and/or extra-curricular experience is an asset Knowledge, Skills and Experience·    Strong knowledge of the British Columbia Curriculum, across Grades 8-12·    Knowledge of the current research on girls and learning·    Demonstrated experience as an enthusiastic, innovative, and caring educator with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all its many dimensions·    Collaborative and flexible, supportive, and effective team-player·    Ability to develop strong professional relationships with all stakeholders·    Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills·    Strong organizational and time-management skills·    Demonstrated commitment to educating the whole student·    Demonstrated ability to integrate technology purposefully to transform learning·    Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and assessment practices to meet the needs of individual learners·    Experience with using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an asset·    Experience using an inquiry-based and project-based learning approach·    Committed to continuous professional growth and improvement·    Experience teaching Physical & Health Education in senior grades·    Experience coaching athletics teams·    Experience teaching sexual education and first aid is an asset·    Maintain student standards of behaviour, mutual respect, and safety during all activities·    Experience with the BC Ministry of Education assessment guidelines Faculty at York House are provided with the following:A diverse and inclusive work environmentSmall class sizes and time for planning and working collaborativelyAccess to exceptional resourcesA robust peer Mentorship ProgramComprehensive compensation and benefits package
