Our school serves students from JK to Grade 11 and follows the Ontario curriculum in English; no French is required. Students also learn Algonquin language and culture and participate in land-based learning. We are seeking a Math & Science Teacher for our high school students to build their skills in mathematics and science and prepare them for graduation and beyond. Classes of 10 to 15 students allow for strong relationships and individualized support. The ideal candidate is committed to differentiating instruction, addressing learning gaps, supporting students with special education needs, and creating positive classroom relationships and routines. They value land-based learning and are comfortable incorporating it when appropriate. We welcome applications from new graduates. Duties:Teach mathematics and science to students in Grades 9 to 11.Plan units and lessons aligned with the Ontario curriculum.Differentiate instruction to meet students' needs.Implement accommodations and modifications outlined in students' IEPs.Bring Algonquin culture and local context into lessons where it fits.Build strong, trusting relationships with students.Manage classroom behavior with clear expectations and consistent routines.Assess student progress and give feedback to students and parents.Keep attendance records and complete report cards on time.Maintain the science lab, supplies, inventory, and chemical safety (WHMIS).Participate in staff meetings and professional development.Contribute to school events and extracurricular activities. Mandatory Requirements:Bachelor of Education degree or higher from an accredited university.Valid teaching certification from a Canadian province or territory.Ontario College of Teachers member, or willing to become one.Qualified to teach high school mathematics and/or science.Legally entitled to work in Canada.
