Education Specialist

Summary This position is part of the San Felipe Pueblo Elementary, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Education Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, directing, conducting, administering, and coordinating academic and curriculum-based programs at a Bureau of Indian Education School. This position requires SCHOOL YEAR CONTRACT per Public Law 95-561 and will require contract renewal on an annual basis. This position IS NOT suitable for telework or remote consideration under any circumstances. Term appts are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration (more than 1 year but not more than 2). Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage. Employees selected for Term appts may be converted to school year or year long contract without further competition. As Education Specialist- CY-1710, wis responsible for planning, developing, directing, conducting, administering, and coordinating academic and curriculum-based programs at a Bureau of Indian Education School. May oversee all/specific academic programs (i.e., special education, STEM, gifted & talented, etc.) or student-supporting functions (i.e., dean of students, attendance, student discipline, etc.). Education Specialist is responsible for enhancing educational programs, developing curricula, and supporting teachers and students to improve learning outcomes. Typical work assignments may include the following: Develop and implement procedures for ensuring security and confidentiality of state-mandated testing programs and other assessments. Direct and oversee test implementation and monitor testing activities to ensure that procedures are followed and deadlines met. Provide timely support for testing facilitators. Consult with staff to provide appropriate testing accommodation for Limited English Proficient (LEP) students and students receiving special services. Identify, investigate, and address testing irregularities. Report discrepancies and disciplinary actions taken against students as required. Is responsible for the school assessment and criteria of evaluation for students. Develop and distribute statistical studies, analysis, and evaluation reports as required. Work with instructional teams to analyze test data and develop student achievement goals, benchmarks and objectives. Consult with administration and staff to develop, administer, and interpret evaluation guidelines and procedures. Assist educators with the implementation of individual student data folders. Maintain and ensure integrity of testing data. Ensure all materials and data are submitted within established timelines. Complete evaluation and compliance reports as required by federal and state programs. Develop, implement, and maintain an inventory system to track and monitor location of test materials throughout the distribution, return, and storage process. Compile, maintain, file, and secure all reports, records, and other required documents. Develop and deliver training for test administrators to ensure that tests are conducted and procedures are consistently followed. Deliver training for data use in the classroom. Organize logistics for scheduling and conducting all campus testing including distribution, and security May administer student-focused programs and procedures to address attendance, student scheduling, extra-curricular activities, and discipline which may require attendance of student and/or department meetings. This may include identifying and resolving non-academic challenges impacting students' academic success.
