Join Our TeamSakastew School is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and student-centred Resource Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioural success of students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Working closely with classroom teachers, school administration, families, Elders, and community partners, the successful candidate will help ensure that all students have equitable access to high-quality educational programming in an inclusive learning environment.The Resource Teacher plays a key role in implementing Manitoba's Appropriate Educational Programming (AEP) framework while supporting culturally responsive practices that honour Indigenous ways of knowing, learning, and being.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and support the identification of students requiring additional educational supports.Develop, implement, monitor, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, families, administrators, and outside agencies.Provide direct instructional support and targeted interventions for students with diverse learning needs.Support classroom teachers in implementing differentiated instruction, accommodations, modifications, and evidence-based intervention strategies.Coordinate referrals for educational assessments and collaborate with psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other specialists.Assist in interpreting assessment results and translating recommendations into classroom programming.Maintain confidential student records and documentation in accordance with Manitoba educational guidelines.Participate in Student Support Team meetings and collaborate with school staff to promote student success.Support positive behaviour planning and social-emotional learning initiatives.Build positive relationships with students, families, Elders, and community members to strengthen collaborative educational planning.Participate in professional learning and contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote inclusive education.QualificationsBachelor of Education.Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for Manitoba certification).Training or experience in Special Education, Inclusive Education, or Resource Teaching is preferred.Knowledge of Manitoba's Appropriate Educational Programming (AEP) framework and Individual Education Planning.Experience developing and implementing IEPs and supporting diverse learners.Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strength-based educational practices.Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.Experience working with Indigenous students and communities is considered a strong asset.Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining confidentiality.Preferred AssetsExperience working in First Nations or northern schools in a remote situation.Knowledge of Indigenous worldviews, land-based education, and culturally responsive teaching practices.Experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, behavioural needs, speech and language delays, and other exceptional learning needs.Experience working collaboratively with educational assistants and outside agencies.We OfferCompetitive salary based on qualifications and experience.Northern and remote incentives (where applicable).Professional development opportunities.Subsidized, furnished housing (where applicable and available).A collaborative and supportive school culture.The opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a vibrant First Nations community committed to student success.
