The mission of the United States Air Force Academy is to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become leaders of character, motivated to lead the United States Air Force in service to our nation. USAFA, located just north of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is an undergraduate institution that awards the Bachelor of Science degree as part of its mission to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become officers of character, motivated to lead in the United States Air Force and in service to our nation. Faculty applications are invited from candidates who can contribute to this mission by interacting with cadets, both in and out of the classroom, as instructors and mentors. The student body consists of approximately 4,000 men and women representing every state and several foreign countries. The Academy faculty is an integrated group of military and civilian educators. The curriculum includes core academic and professional courses, and 27 disciplinary and interdisciplinary majors.Major Duties: Provides all cadets with realistic leadership and character development experience in a mentally and physically challenging environment. Prepares and motivates cadets for a lifetime of service through physical education, fitness training, and testing, intramural and intercollegiate athletic competition. Promotes Academy to the nation through athletics. Effectively instructs cadets in undergraduate Physical Education courses. Prepares course materials according to published course descriptions and delivers well-organized instruction to facilitate student learning. Counsels and evaluates assigned cadets as appropriate. Effectively provides student assessment and motivation. Provides extra instruction outside normal class and practice hours for cadets who require or request it. Serves as a course director when required by the Department of Physical Education. Manages all facets of the intercollegiate baseball programs. Instructs cadets in the sport of baseball programs. Effectively assists in all organizational aspects of the intercollegiate baseball programs, including but not limited to lesson planning, scheduling, budgeting, maintenance of supply and equipment accounts, and safety of athletic facilities and physical training. Manages training programs in full compliance with the rules, regulations, and bylaws of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Western Athletic Conference (WAC), Mountain West Conference (MWC) or other applicable conference affiliation and the U.S. Air Force Academy. Provides guidance to assistant coaches to ensure the professional conduct and performance of the program's staff. Manage, administer, and instruct summer sports camps as required by the Executive Director of Athletics.
