Our staff work collaboratively to create engaging learning environments that foster academic achievement, personal growth, leadership, and community connection.Position OverviewThe CTS Teacher will deliver engaging options classes for junior and senior high school students, providing opportunities for students to explore career pathways, develop practical skills, and connect their learning to future education and employment opportunities.The successful candidate will be passionate about helping students discover their interests and strengths while creating hands-on learning experiences both in and outside the classroom. Depending on school needs and the successful candidate's qualifications, the position may also include teaching core academic courses.Career and Technology Studies ProgrammingPlan and deliver engaging CTS courses aligned with Alberta Education curriculum requirements.Create meaningful opportunities for students to explore career interests, workplace skills, trades, entrepreneurship, technology, and post-secondary pathways.Develop hands-on, project-based learning experiences that connect classroom learning to real-world applications.Support students in developing employability skills, career awareness, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.Promote student engagement through innovative and relevant CTS programmingIntegrate outdoor education and land-based learning opportunities into CTS programming whenever possible.Teach assigned junior and senior high school courses, which may include core academic subjects based on qualifications and school needs.Develop lesson plans, assessments, and instructional strategies that meet diverse student learning needs.Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that promotes student success and well-being.Differentiate instruction to support a wide range of learners and learning styles.Qualifications RequiredValid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility for Alberta certification.Bachelor of Education or related teaching degree.Strong understanding of Alberta Education curriculum and assessment practices.Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.Commitment to student success and holistic education.PreferredCTS teaching experience and/or related industry experience.Experience teaching junior and senior high school students.Experience with project-based, experiential, or outdoor learning.Knowledge of Indigenous education and culturally responsive teaching practices.Experience working with Indigenous students, families, and communities.Ability to teach additional core subject areas is considered an asset. Employment RequirementsValid Alberta Teaching Certificate.Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.Reliable transportation.What We OfferCompetitive salary based on qualifications and experience, at or above public school board salary grids.Comprehensive benefits package.Student loan forgiveness offered by federal government.Educational assistants in the classroom.Educational supports in house, such as: student success teacher, behavior support, psychologist.Supportive school leadership and collaborative staff.Teacher housing available.The opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the Stoney Nakoda community.
