Summary This position will be at the Stony Child Development Center, West Point, New York. The age range for this location would be children aged 6 weeks through Pre-Kindergarten. Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee: First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Available to MWR CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours). Child, Youth, and School (CYS) Services recognizes the challenges of our Soldiers, their Families and the Civilian workforce. About the Stony Child Development Center (CDC). The Stony Child Development Center (CDC) is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Combined with Army standards and regulations, NAEYC guides the CDC program towards the highest quality of care for your children. CDC classrooms are mixed age groups consisting of 6 weeks to 18 months, 16 months - 36 months, preschool and a separate pre-kindergarten program. As an added employee incentive, the Department of Defense (DoD) granted approval to extend temporary limited commissary privileges (excluding the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products) to CYS employees. This temporary approval expires 31 December 2026.Major Duties: Provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs. Actively supervises and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings, and special events. Assists in implementing planned, developmentally appropriate activities, schedules, and routines for children/youth using prepared curriculum, activity plans, and materials which includes group and individual activities. Helps arrange for or serve appropriate snacks or meals. Identifies and responds to emergency situations including evacuations, child/youth illness, and physical and emotional needs.
