Director of Exceptional Student Services

East Baton Rouge Schools invites applications for the following position: Director of Exceptional Student Services Location: TBD Summary: The Director of Exceptional Student Services has overall responsibility for the management and administration of the Special Education Department. This person develops, maintains, and directs programs and services as required to carry out school system responsibilities regarding the identification, location, and evaluation of each student suspected to have disabilities and/or exceptionalities, and personnel in providing, or causing to be provided, a free appropriate public education to each eligible exceptional student. Provide high quality service for all eligible entities as a member of the District Leadership Team. Education & Experience: Minimum of a Master's degree and possess, or be eligible for, professional or supervisory certification as required in the State of Louisiana. A minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher with at least three (3) years in Exceptional Child Education. A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in Administration and/or Supervision of Exceptional Child Education. Mild/Moderate and Severe/Profound Generic Certification or two (2) areas of special education. Certification as a Parish or City School Supervisor/Director of Special Education.
