Summary This position is located at the Middle School/Teen (MST) West Point, NY. Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee: First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Available to CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours). This position is Mission and Weather Essential. Located in the scenic Hudson Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. Middle School and Teen Program Center is open to students in grades 6-12. Planned and impromptu events and activities include fun and exciting offerings from Boys & Girls Club, 4-H, Character Counts, and Army Youth Program Curriculums. The focus is on character and leadership development, academic success and mentoring, arts and creativity, and sports, health and fitness.Major Duties: Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant in a Child and Youth Services program and maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs for program participants based on the group and individual children and youth. Establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth, and adults. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules and provides program options for children with special requirements. Maintains program participation data and complete daily report.
