Training Technician

Summary The position of Training Technician is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Workforce Management & Consulting (WMC), Scholarships & Clinical Education (SCE) Office. The Training Technician serves as the specialist/auditor on the Employee Incentive Scholarship Program (EISP), National Nursing Education Initiative (NNEI), and VA National Education for Employees Program (VANEEP). Training Technicians will report to the Supervisory Program Specialist. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-09. At the GS-07 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-09. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds. Promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied. Major Duties: Evaluate and manage new scholarship awards for participants spanning the entire Veterans Health Administration. Track and audit facility and participant financial allocations and academic progress. Validate and evaluate participant/applicant academic plans of study and specific program accreditation requirements. Validate facility annual reports and program site reviews. Provide customer service to facility scholarship coordinators across multiple VISNs.
