Elementary TeacherThe teacher is the educational leader in the classroom and will ensure that the School's Program and curricula are implemented in a way that maximizes student-learning experiences. They plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of all students within his/her teaching assignment. The Teacher will work within an established framework for the delivery of educational services which support the School’s Program. Working collaboratively with a team of educational professionals, the Teacher will demonstrate a strong commitment to the planning for improvement process in support of student achievement and reports directly to the School Principal.J. Addison School is currently looking for a full-time contract Elementary Teacher, commencing in September 2026. Contract renewal will be based on the candidate meeting the school's performance expectations. The teacher will create a positive climate for learning the Ontario Ministry’s curriculum at the Elementary level. As our program integrates elements of Montessori, pre-IB and Reggio Emilia, some knowledge of these curriculums are highly advantageous.Responsibilities will include:Prepares, develops and implements engaging lesson plans for students consistent with the Ministry of Education curriculum as the foundation;Uses a variety of teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students;Incorporates a variety of visual aids, textbooks, creative projects and technology to gain and enhance student involvement;Evaluates each student’s learning and performance through physical and skill development, class work, assignments and tests;Provides additional instruction and support when necessary;Fosters healthy relationships with students and faculty to create an enriched learning environment;Maintains effective communication with students, parents and faculty;Completes required record keeping such as student attendance, grades and report cards using Edsembli.Qualifications & Skills:An Undergraduate Degree;A Bachelor of Education Degree with qualifications to teach at the Primary level;A demonstrated passion for teaching and working with children;A thorough understanding of current educational practices in the areas of curriculum planning and assessment;A commitment toward continued professional growth and development;Strong interpersonal, organization, communication and time management skills.Experience with online learning and online platforms such as Microsoft Teams would be an asset.Familiarity with ESL teaching strategies would also be an asset. J.
