Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, OJS, Indian Police Academy in Devils Lake, North Dakota. BIA's mission is to enhance the quality of life, to promote economic opportunity, and to carry out the responsibility to protect and improve the trust assets of American Indians, Indian Tribes and Alaska Natives. Indian Affairs (IA) provides services to 575 federally recognized tribes with a population of about 2.5 million American Indians and Alaska Natives. While the role of IA has changed significantly in the last three decades in response to a greater emphasis on Indian self-governance and self-determination, Tribes still look to IA for a broad spectrum of programs such as social services, law enforcement and detention services, administration of Tribal courts, natural resources management, economic development, implementation of land and water claim settlements, housing improvement, disaster relief, and the replacement and maintenance of schools, roads, and bridges.Major Duties: As Training Technician, GS-1702, your typical work assignments may include, but not limited to: Coordinate Indian Police Academy (IPA) training and instructional activities such as assisting Instructors with conducting basic and recurring training courses; administering exams; overseeing student feedback sessions; and providing technical guidance to all related aspects of training courses held by IPA. Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of training courses. Study/analyze training methods, courses, and instructional devices to recommend, develop, and implement new methods and techniques for accomplishing required training activities. Develop, coordinate, and administer program agreements, task orders, statement of work, and interagency agreements for the development and delivery of training courses. Coordinate instructional activities to include advising students on policies/procedures, uniform requirements, cultural issues, and student emergencies; assisting with transportation matters; handling graduation requirements; taking care of logistics, schedules and other administrative matters such as registering students, reserving rooms, ensuring classroom set up, etc. Maintain training/student data via electronic means and prepare numerous reports and statistical data. Resolve a wide variety of training-related problems.
