CTE: Health Sciences Teacher

Knox County Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position: High School Health Sciences Teacher-Sports/Human Performance Location: Central High School School Year: 2026-2027 Job Summary: The Health Science educator must document three years of full-time successful employment within the past five years in a state-approved health care facility: (ex: hospital, nursing home, rehab center, dental or medical office, home health, day surgery center etc.) Applicant must also have an associate or higher degree and hold current licensure or certification in an allied health occupation, or current licensure as a registered nurse in Tennessee. Qualifications: All teachers shall be licensed in accordance with state law and the regulations of the Tennessee State Department of Education. Such license shall be on file in the office of the Superintendent prior to beginning employmentIt is the responsibility of the employee to secure a certificate and to maintain itsvalidity. When a teacher’s contract must be terminated because the teachers’certificate has lapsed or other wise become invalid, the Superintendent shallimmediately suspend the teacher without pay pending disposition of the matter. The teacher shall be notified of the reason for the suspension and given an opportunity for a hearing before the BoardAll teachers shall demonstrate competency based on the current job assignment and performance standards as outlined in the appropriate state model for local evaluationSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may findappropriate and acceptable
