Summary This position is located at Fort Irwin, California. Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee applicable to employees working at least 15 hours per week: First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Fort Irwin is a world class training center for America's Soldiers, known for its excellent desert training and vast recreational opportunities. Located approximately 37 miles NE of Barstow, California, in the High Mojave Desert midway between Las Vegas Nevada and Los Angeles, California, Fort Irwin has many fun activities such as Desert Discovery, 6 hole Pitch N' Putt golf course, Skeet and Trap range, High Adventure and Sightseeing Trips. Nearest airports are located in Ontario, CA (120 miles), Los Angeles (175 miles) and Las Vegas (180 miles). - Selectees may have the option to reside in On-Post Housing, at their own cost. As an added employee incentive, the Department of Defense (DoD) granted approval to extend temporary limited commissary privileges (excluding the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products) to CYS employees. Referrals will be based on the preferences you indicate in the application process.Major Duties: Provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs. Actively supervises and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings, and special events. Assists in implementing planned, developmentally appropriate activities, schedules, and routines for children/youth using prepared curriculum, activity plans, and materials which includes group and individual activities. Helps arrange for or serve appropriate snacks or meals. Identifies and responds to emergency situations including evacuations, child/youth illness, and physical and emotional needs.
