Educational Aide (SPED ASSESSOR)

Summary This position is located at: Department of Defense Education Activity - Americas, Southeast District, Fort Stewart GA. Description of the Working Environment: Work is performed in a classroom setting. Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA), as one of only two Federally-operated school systems, is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of War (DoW). DoWEA is globally positioned, operating 160 accredited schools in 8 districts located in 11 foreign countries, 7 states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoWEA is committed to ensuring that all school-aged children of military families are provided with a world-class education that prepares them for postsecondary education and/or career success and to be leading contributors in their communities as well as in our 21st century globalized society.Major Duties: Communicate with parents, staff or others regarding scheduling meetings with Assessor via email and phone. Communicate with appropriate personnel to notify them of suspense dates and when each phase of the assessment process is completed. Use judgment to answer recurring questions, resolve problems, and control and restrict personal information to those with a "need to know". Organize and maintain assessor files beginning with assessment planning through eligibility completion. Develop and maintain data system for tracking status of the assessment process. Enter assessment data into school level data management system. Provide information to students, parents, staff or others while adhering to school's policies and procedures. Provide clerical support under the direction of the assessor(s).
