Summary About the position: Irwin Intermediate School is part of the Fort Bragg Schools Community in the DoWEA Americas Mid-Atlantic District. Irwin IS serves students in grades 2-5. Description of Working Environment: Work is performed in a classroom setting. Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA), as one of only two Federally-operated school systems, is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of War (DoW). Irwin is a neighborhood school and many students walk. Neighborhoods served by Irwin Intermediate School are Cherbourg, Hammond Hills, Nijmegen, Normandy Heights, and St. Mere Eglise. PreK - 1st grade students in these same neighborhoods attend Hampton Primary School. Students in 6th - 8th grade attend Albritton Middle School.Major Duties: Monitoring students during various phases of the school day Provides assistance in toileting, feeding, eating, and personal hygiene Supports educational efforts in the Special Education classroom and general education classroom as needed Performs administrative tasks such as attendance records, filing, scheduling, and reviewing assignments Works with students in accordance with plans developed by the specialist and educator Participates in Parent Teacher conferences Preparing instructional materials related to classroom lessons
