Kapawe’no First Nationis inviting applicants for:Principal of Kapawe’no First Nation Collegiate2026-2027 School Year Kapawe’no First Nation Collegiate is found in the Hamlet of Grouard in northern Alberta, in Big Lakes County. It is located 35 km north of the town of High Prairie on the western shore of Lesser Slave Lake off of Highway 750.Kapawe’no First Nation Collegiate is a Grade K to 9 school with an enrollment of approximately 70 students and is situated within the old Northern Lakes College Campus. We are committed to ensuring a caring, respectful learning environment that nurtures a sense of belonging for our Indigenous Students. Major Responsibilities:Has a passion for promoting educational success for Indigenous learners, especially in their language and culture. Fluency in Cree language and experience in the culture would be an asset.Will work with Local Knowledge Keepers to support and deliver land based learning opportunities, traditional teachings and culturally meaningful experiences for students.Will actively seek local partnerships to create program opportunities to engage and challenge students and promote a sense of pride and accomplishment. Is a strong instructional leader who will work with staff to ensure that students have high quality learning experiences.Develop, implement and monitor school improvement plans focused on student achievement and well being.Use student data and assessment results to guide decision making and continuous improvement.Oversee school operations including budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and policy implementation.Qualifications/Requirements:Must hold Alberta teaching certification and a Leadership Quality Standard certificate.Must hold a Master's degree or willingness to complete a Master's degree within a mutually agreed upon timeline.Has a minimum of 3 successful years of administration experience in Indigenous communities.Has strong interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.Has knowledge of Alberta Education standards, policies and reporting requirements. What We Offer:Competitive salary with Principal bonus10 paid sick days per year2 paid personal days per yearBenefits package
