We celebrate and build upon the unique identity, gifts, and interests that every child brings to school.Our school is located 45 minutes away from Fort St James and 2.5 hours from Prince George, and is within a community of approximately 500 people. Why You’ll Love Working HereWe know that teaching is a demanding calling, which is why we’ve built an environment that prioritizes educator well-being along with student success:Subsidized Housing : Fully furnished housing for only $500 per month with hydro, water, and high-speed internet all included. A 4.5-Day Work Week: Every Friday afternoon is yours. Use it to explore the lake, hike the trails, or simply rest and recharge. Salary 3% above the Local School District - Our salaries from each category are 3% above SD91 salary grid. Moving Allowance:   A relocation/moving allowance is provided to assist with your transition to our beautiful community from other locations within Canada.Small Class Sizes and Robust Support Systems: Our small class sizes of approximately 9-12 students allow you to teach personalized lessons centred around student interests.We provide many supports, including Elders and Knowledge Keepers, Educational Assistants, land-based learning coordinators, and a caring administrative and support team. Key ResponsibilitiesFoster a Love for Literacy: Bring a deep conviction that reading is a fundamental human right. Cultivate an inclusive, engaging reading culture that inspires all students to discover a genuine love for books and storytelling. Utilize Evidence-Based Teaching Practices Daily - Experience with delivering  small-group interventions is an asset.  Planning and Lesson Delivery - Lesson and unit plans that follow the BC Curriculum and meet the learning outcomes outlined. Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners. Create an Inclusive Classroom Environment : Establish a positive and respectful classroom environment that allows all learners to feel valued and supported. Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote kindness, cooperation, and responsibility. Bring the Curriculum Outdoors: Design and facilitate meaningful land-based learning experiences that utilize our incredible lakeside environment that is also near trails and forests (e.g., water ecology, plant identification, and outdoor storytelling). Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning: Integrate local cultural knowledge, values, and traditions into instruction.
