Junior/Senior High Teacher

Kipohtakaw Education Centre is located 40 minutes northwest of Edmonton. We are 20 minutes northwest of St. Albert. We are a K-12 school with just over 300 students with a strong focus on Cree language and cultural programming as well as a restorative policy. With EA's for most classes and 1:1 workers in place, we are looking for a junior/senior high teacher.Duties include the following: Under the supervision of the Principal, the teacher is responsible for the planning and implementation of the AFNE holistic academic program. Minimum Education Requirements: Education Degree Duties and Responsibilities:1.Provide ongoing instruction as per the Alberta Learning Curriculum guides and programs of study. 2.Prepare and submit instructional long range plans by September 30th of each year. 3. Be responsible for specific duties associated with specialized areas of instructions as assigned by the Principal and/or Executive Director. 4. Provide an environment that is safe and conducive to learning. 5.Be responsible for on going student evaluations through formal and informal procedures for reporting and placements of students. 6.Utilize and adhere to AFNE's approved restorative policy. 7.Liaison with parents in matters pertaining to student performances. 8.Be responsible for participation and organizing of extra-curricular activities. 9.Organize and participate in cultural and community events. 10.Follow all AFNE staff protocol and Code of Ethics as outlined in the AFNE policy manual. 11.Be responsible for ongoing professional development. 12.Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor. 13. Follow all AFNE's staff protocol and Code of Ethics as outlined in AFNE's policy manual. 14. Assist in the preparation delivery of programs particularly those involving local content, Cree language and cultural programming.
