Posting#: S2609005(SPosting Date: 11 Jun 2026Posting Close Date: 25 Jun 2026 12:00 PM (CDT)Category: TransportationType: PERMANENT CONTRACTDescription:  Lift Bus Driver - Red 1Location: TransportationStart Date: 08 Jun 2026End Date: ContinuousFTE/Hours: 20.00 per week What we offer:Willing to train suitable candidates with clean driving abstracts.Paid training upon completion of certification.Competitive pay rates:  $24.86 - $26.43 per hour.Comprehensive employee benefits package.Purpose of PositionThe Lift Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting special needs students (e.g. medical complications, mobility challenges) and must be able to effectively secure students with mobility/physical aid devices (e.g. wheelchairs, walkers, oxygen tanks, catheter bags).Duties and ResponsibilitiesAre established by the Supervisor of Transportation within the parameters of the job profile. Required QualificationsMust hold valid Class 5 Driver's License.Class 2 Driver's License, or willingness to obtain.School Bus Operator's Certificate, with Defensive Driving training, or willingness to obtain.WHMIS training/certification.Knowledge of specialized equipment for the Lift Bus.Demonstrated ability to follow standardized work methods and processes.Ability to interact with service dogs while transporting students, if required.Demonstrated time management and computer/word processing skills.Effective basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.Effective moderate interpersonal and communication skills.Preferred QualificationsFirst Aid/CPR Certification.Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.Unified Referral & Intake System (URIS) training.Mechanical knowledge.Your cover letter must clearly indicate how you meet the required qualifications. If unable to apply on-line, please click here for the Support Staff Application form.For assistance with your application or to learn more about the position requirements and training, please visit the BSD Transportation Office, 800 Richmond Avenue East, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (no appointment necessary) or call 204-729-3975. This is a repost and previous applicants do not need to reapply.Salary as per COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT.
