The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in instructional and assessment practices, a passion for teaching, and a strong understanding of how girls learn best. This individual will also fulfill the role of Teacher Advisor on teaching days and will have opportunities to be involved in the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that enhance students聮 experiences at school. There may be the possibility of Teacher on Call work to round out each teaching day, on an ad hoc basis.聽QualificationsBachelor of Education聽British Columbia Teachers' certification or equivalent聽Five years of teaching experience in Secondary School English or Humanities聽Independent School experience is an asset聽Interest and/or experience in coaching public speaking, debate or civil discourseCoaching and/or experience in extra-curricular activities聽Experience teaching English First Peoples 12 (EFP12) is an assetKnowledge, Skills and Experience路 Strong knowledge of British Columbia Curriculum and assessment practices聽路 Knowledge of the current research on girls and learning聽路 Demonstrated experience as an enthusiastic, innovative, and caring educator with a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all its many dimensions聽路 Collaborative and flexible, supportive, and effective team-player聽路 Ability to develop strong professional relationships with all school partners路 Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills聽路 Strong organizational and time-management skills聽路 Demonstrated commitment to educating the whole student聽路 Demonstrated ability to integrate technology purposefully to transform learning路 Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and assessment practices to meet the needs of individual learners聽路 Experience with using Understanding by Design and Universal Design for Learning as frameworks to teach for deeper understanding路 Experience using an inquiry-based and project-based learning approach聽路 Committed to continuous professional growth and improvement聽Faculty at York House are provided with the following:A diverse and inclusive work environmentSmall class sizes and time for planning and working collaborativelyAccess to exceptional resourcesA robust peer Mentorship ProgramComprehensive compensation and benefits package聽
