Teacher Supervisor (Assistant Supervisor of Education)

Summary Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. Major Duties: Position located at a Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) which consists of multiple institutions composed of various security levels. Responsible for assisting in the organization, planning, implementation and evaluation of the following types of education programs: Adult Continuing Education, Literacy, General Education Development, English as a Second Language, parenting education, Post-Secondary Education, Occupational/Vocational education, special learning needs programs, release readiness, and leisure library and law library. Frequently modifies and improves upon the existing programs and activities by updating course content and instructional methodology. Assists in determining program needs and establishing incentive programs and motivational techniques to meet the needs of a challenging and potentially resistant student population. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff's correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
