Education Technician (PMDB Trainer)

Summary The Primary Purpose of this Position is: To teach Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) classes to VA employees across several VA North Texas Health Care System facilities and perform a variety of educational, administrative, and technical duties in support of the Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP). The Organizational Location of the Position is: Workplace Violence Prevention Program, Mental Health Service, VA North Texas Health Care System, Dallas, TX (VANTHCS). Comprised of the Dallas VA Medical Center, Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham, Garland VA Medical Center, Fort Worth Outpatient Clinic, Tyler VA Primary Care Clinic, and several rural clinics, VANTHCS is an integrated health care system with approximately 4,000 employees and over 1,600 volunteers and clinical trainees. VANTHCS also coordinates a Community Based Outpatient Clinic program throughout its 40-county primary service area to improve access to care for veterans throughout 38 North Texas and 2 in southern Oklahoma. VANTHCS offers a continuum of health care services to a veteran population of approximately 500,000. Housed on an 84-acre campus, Dallas VA Medical Center is the corporate headquarters for VANTHCS and serves as the tertiary referral center. Through its partnership with The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas (UT Southwestern), it also has emerged as a major teaching and medical research center.Major Duties: Duties Include but are not limited to: The incumbent of this position serves as a fulltime Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) trainer and as an educational and administrative support for the Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP). To assist in the coordination of the TMS process for setting up PMDB trainings, including but not limited to scheduling classes, sending training class reminders, downloading class rosters, assigning TMS credit, and tracking class attendance. To help manage administrative aspects for the WVPP and all associated activities, programs, and related committees including the Disruptive Behavior Committee (DBC), and Employee Threat Assessment Team (ETAT). Assist in training and management of the facility's Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT) for inpatient units.
