Teaching Position – Secondary Shop and Electives Teacher School District No. 10 – Arrow Lakes, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC, is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt, Sylix, Ktunaxa, and Secwepemc Peoples. We have the following temporary teaching contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year: Position: Secondary Shop and Electives TeacherSchool: Lucerne Elementary Secondary SchoolFTE: 1.0 FTE Temporary ContractEffective: September 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027Salary Range: $67,040 - $119,548 Position OverviewSchool District 10 is committed to fostering a collaborative community of learning grounded in strong academics, overall well-being, and a meaningful connection to the land. The successful candidate will share our commitment to this purpose and contribute actively to our vibrant learning community at Lucerne Elementary Secondary School. Assignment / ScheduleThis position is focused on teaching Grade 8 – 12 Shop and technology classes, and may also include teaching elective courses. Required characteristics/ strengths include:a) A valid Teaching Certificate from the BC Teacher Regulation Branchb) Successful secondary teaching experiencec) A bachelor’s degree with a Major or Minor in mechanics or similard) Demonstrated ability in planning and designing engaging learning activities using BC curriculume) Strong interpersonal skills and strengths working within a team environmentf) Excellent classroom management skills and proven ability to engage all learnersg) Excellent ability to differentiate for all learners and co-plan for diversity and engagementh) Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning and self-regulated learningi) Demonstrated understanding of indigenous cultures, and experience integrating First Peoples of Principles of Learning into teaching practicej) Successful experience in facilitating outdoor learning experiences with a focus on place consciousness and cross curricular learningk) Commitment to co-developing the School Growth Plan and collaboratively organizing for learningl) Exemplary use of assessment strategies that engage learners and foster learningm) Professional learning inquiry experience that informs professional practicen) Commitment and expertise in building relationships with parents and community
