Teaching Position - PE and Athletic Director School District No. 10 – Arrow Lakes, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC, is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt, Sylix, Ktunaxa, and Secwepemc Peoples. The successful candidate will share our commitment to this purpose and contribute actively to our vibrant learning community at Nakusp Elementary School. Assignment / ScheduleThis position is focused on teaching Grade 8-12 Physical Education and acting as the Athletic Director for the school. It also involves teaching electives or other courses. Required characteristics/ strengths include:a) A valid Teaching Certificate from the BC Teacher Regulation Branchb) Successful secondary PE and Health Education teaching experiencec) Major in Physical Education, Sport Science or Kinesiology at the university leveld) Exemplary use of assessment for learning strategies that engage and foster learninge) Experience integrating First Peoples Principles of Learning into teaching practicef) Excellent classroom management skills and proven ability to engage all learners with the ability to differentiate for all learnersg) Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning in the classroom and beyondh) Strong interpersonal skills. and strengths working in a team environment including experience in co- planning and co-teachingi) Commitment to implementing the School Growth Planj) Commitment and expertise in building relationships with parents and communityk) Embodiment of lifelong learning, and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growthl) Willingness to participate in the school's extra-curricular programs will be an asset
