Full Time Kindergarten Teacher for the 2026-2027 Academic Year – Chief Poundmaker School Chief Poundmaker School located in Poundmaker Cree Nation, is seeking a positive, energetic Kindergarten Teacher to join their team for the 2026-2027 school year.Poundmaker Cree Nation, located in west-central Saskatchewan, is a vibrant and culturally rich First Nation community rooted in the traditions, language, and values of the Plains Cree people. Named after the respected leader Chief Poundmaker, the Nation takes pride in its strong sense of identity, community, and commitment to education grounded in both academic excellence and Indigenous ways of knowing.Chief Poundmaker School serves as a central hub for learning within the community, supporting students from early childhood through high school. The school is dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where students are encouraged to succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and culturally. Emphasis is placed on Cree language revitalization, land-based learning, and the incorporation of traditional knowledge alongside provincial curriculum outcomes.We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator for Kindergarten who is committed to supporting young learners in a holistic, culturally responsive environment. Successful candidates will value relationship-building, community engagement, and the importance of integrating Indigenous perspectives and language into everyday teaching practices.Knowledge/Skills and Abilities/Attributes:• Plan, implement, evaluate, and report on Poundmaker education programs• Develop and monitor program workplans, objectives and outcomes• Ability to embed local First Nation culture into teaching practice• Implement new methodologies and strategies to provide a creative, engaged, and inclusive classroom experience Duties and Responsibilities • Nurture, support and guide young learners • Prepare engaging lessons and interactive learning activities/materials • Conduct formal and informal assessment of students • Incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planning • Facilitate learning activities both within the classroom setting and outdoors • Participate in co-curricular school activities • Promote a maintain high standards of behavior, respect and safety within the class-room • Support families with open, ongoing communication • Participate in professional development• Prepare course timelines and materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts • Prepare lesson plans with clear objectives that follow SK curriculum standards • Use information in Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s) to strategically adapt instructional materials • Work collaboratively with specialist and homeroom teachers to support the development of integrated lessons and units • Present materials in logical manner and in appropriate qualities • Maintain appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety within classroom • Uphold Poundmaker’s Code of Conduct, provide appropriate consequences and contact homeroom teachers/parents when required • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions • Incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planning • Formal and informal ongoing assessment of students, including report cards, progress reports and marking • Develop a positive, safe culture through actions and words • Integrate social responsibility and kindness into daily teaching and routines • Be available to students outside of class time  Position Qualifications• Possess or be in application of a valid SK Teaching Certificate • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in education • Understands and uses current literacy practices and teaching strategies • Models a strong work ethic as well as high standards of commitment • Must have an awareness and appreciation of First Nations culture • Fosters school mission, values and sense of community through student-centered decisions • Effectively communicates with staff, parents and students • Maintains professionalism through all school interactions and activities • Collaborates with colleagues in Junior and Senior School positions • Values continual growth and development of school programs and curriculumStart Date: August 26, 2026 Application Deadline: May 15, 2026
