Reporting to the Middle and Senior School Assistant Principal, the Student Support Teaching position will commence August 27, 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year.Key Duties and Responsibilities*These may include, but are not limited to…Supporting teaching and learningActively push into classrooms to support student learning, participation, independence, and access to the curriculum;Provide targeted academic and learning support to students in small-group and individual settings within the Student Support Centre, as needed;Contribute to a caring and inclusive learning environment that promotes dignity, belonging, and student well-being;Help students build self-advocacy skills, executive functioning strategies, confidence, and independence as learners;Demonstrate a strong understanding of neurodiversity and a commitment to strengths-based, responsive educational practice;Recommend, implement, and support assistive and educational technologies that enhance student access, engagement, organization, and independence;Contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to student support that reflects current best practice in inclusive education;Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt, and scaffold curriculum, instruction, and assessment to meet diverse learner needs, apply accommodations and effective intervention strategies;Support the development of inclusive classroom practices grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction;Individual Education Plans, Learning Data, and Home PartnershipsInterpret psychoeducational assessments and other relevant documentation to identify student strengths, needs, and appropriate accommodations;Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs), student support plans, and learning profiles;Monitor student progress and use data to inform interventions, next steps, and ongoing support plans;Participate in school-based team meetings and contribute to collaborative planning around student support and wellness;Maintain accurate, current, and confidential records related to student learning support, documentation, and communication;Prepare reports and communicate with families regularly to foster strong, respectful, and supportive partnerships;Liaise, where appropriate, with outside professionals and agencies to support student success in the school setting;Supporting the schoolContribute positively to the broader life of the school and participate in community events and initiatives;Support transitions for students entering, moving through, and exiting the middle and senior school programs;Participate in ongoing professional development related to inclusive education, student support, and emerging best practices.Qualifications:Bachelor of Education or Equivalent;BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate;Undergraduate or graduate level training in educating diverse learners.PreferencesIB MYP/DP training or teaching experience;At least 1-2 years teaching experience;Familiarity with the IB programmes, including inclusive practices within IB teaching and learning;Valid First Aid Certificate.Salary Southpointe's teacher salary grid is at 6% above the Delta public school salary grid at all levels of the grid;The annual salary for a full-time teaching position at Southpointe Academy during the 2025-2026 school year ranges from $68,422 to $116,091 based on placement on the approved teacher salary grid;The Southpointe salary grid will increase at a percentage to be determined for the 2026-2027 school year. Placement on the approved teacher salary grid is based on level of qualifications and duration of full-time teaching experience.BenefitsComprehensive health and dental plan, and other extended benefits;RRSP employer contributions;Staff wellness program;Subsidised school lunch programme;Professional development resources and support;Curriculum leadership opportunities;Commuter benefits.ApplicationsPlease submit your application here with the following supporting documents:Cover letter;Resume;Copy of BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate;Please see our website for additional opportunities.Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada or be in the process of obtaining the appropriate visa(s).Southpointe Academy encourages applications from suitably qualified candidates with diverse backgrounds.
