We welcome applications from all qualified job seekers, including BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour), persons with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQ (persons of all sexual orientations and genders). If you are an applicant with a disability, we will work with you to make reasonable workplace accommodations you may need for your best work performance. We are looking for an experienced Science Teacher to join our Morven Campus (Grades 8-12).  The ideal candidate will be a passionate and committed educator who will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the many facets of school life, including extra-curricular responsibilities. This is a Temporary Contract position from August 28, 2026 to June 30, 2027.Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging Science instruction aligned with the BC Ministry of Education curriculum and, where applicable, Advanced Placement coursesDesign and facilitate inquiry-based learning experiences, including laboratory investigations and opportunities for real-world application of scientific conceptsDifferentiate instruction to support a wide range of learners within a rigorous and collaborative classroom environmentCollaborate with colleagues to develop innovative lessons, units, and assessment strategiesAssess student learning and communicate progress clearly through feedback and formal reportingSupport the development of students’ critical thinking, research, and scientific communication skillsProvide additional academic support to students through tutorials or help sessions outside of class timeLead a co-curricular activity within one of the school’s four strands: Arts, Athletics, Academics, or ServiceParticipate in school events and initiatives that support community engagement and student lifeServe as an Advisor teacher or Community FLEX lead as assignedRequired qualificationsBachelor of Education, with undergraduate studies in ScienceExperience teaching the BC Ministry Science curriculum at the secondary levelBC Teaching CertificationBasic First AidCanadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada Preferred qualifications and experiencesExperience teaching or interest in teaching at the Grades 8 and 9 level is an assetProven experience in competency-based learning and assessment practicesCommitted to continue learning and improving teaching practicePassionate about inspiring students to engage with authentic real-world problemsDriven to take risks in the development of new pedagogical and assessment practicesExperience teaching in a technology-rich environment is an assetOur “Must Haves”Respect, dignity and inclusion for all members of the communityCollaborative mind-set and courageous approach to adversityDemonstrated communications skills (oral and written)Creative “out-of-the-box” thinkerFlexible and adaptable and embraces changeProven work ethic with utmost integrityEnthusiasm, eagerness and genuine interest in all aspects of the school’s successSelf-awareness, with a desire for constant self improvement (goal-oriented) We offer professional development opportunities, competitive salaries, a generous benefits package, health and wellness initiatives, along with one of the most beautiful locations in Canada to work!The current 2025-26 faculty grid annual salary range for this position is *$75,322 to $112,169 based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education.
