Kenai Peninsula Borough School District invites applications for the following position: Primary Grade Teacher Location: Paul Banks Elementary School - Homer Area Date Available: 08/12/2026 Job Qualifications: To apply, a candidate must have or be eligible to obtain a current Alaska Teacher Certificate issued by the Alaska Department of Education with an endorsement in Elementary Education or equivalent. Must have the ability to teach all levels of elementary. An understanding of appropriatelearning activities for elementary grade-level students is essential. Must be energetic and have a positive approach to classroom activities and students. Must be flexible and organized with a willingness, ability,and experience to teach two grade levels or multiage classrooms. Experience with co-teaching, positive behavior supports and working with colleagues to coordinate various groupings in instruction needed.Effective communication skills are required. The ability to structure the educational program to meet individual student needs in all learning areas positively. At the same time, managing group activities is necessary, and knowledge regarding integrating technology into learning and current best practices is required. Must be willing to continue education and pursue opportunities for additional training. Certification Requirements: Must have a current Alaska Teacher Certificate issued by the AlaskaDepartment of Education with an endorsement in Elementary Education or equivalent on/or before the first contract day. Teachers instructing students in grades K-3 must have or be willing to obtain the Alaska Reads Act Reading Endorsement, as required by state regulations. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents and the general public. Other Skills & Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
