Elementary School Principal

Anchorage School District invites applications for the following position: Elementary School Principal (French Immersion) Date Available: 07/01/2026 Location: O'Malley Elementary School Job Summary: The elementary principal serves as the educational leader and chief administrator of the elementary school. The position is responsible for implementing and managing the policies, regulations, and procedures of the Alaska Board of Education to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe, child-centered learning environment that meets and exceeds the Common Core State Standards, following the approved curricula and directives of the school. Achieving academic excellence requires that the elementary principal work collaboratively to lead and nurture all members of the school staff and to communicate effectively with parents, members of the community, and colleagues in other districts and schools. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for planning, curriculum development, program evaluation, extracurricular activities, personnel management, financial management, emergency procedures, resource scheduling, and facilities operations. The elementary principal reports to and is evaluated by the senior director of Elementary Education. Job Requirements: The following are required:A master's degree in educational leadership, public school administration, or a closely related field, or completion of a school administration/educational leadership program that leads to certification.By start date: a valid Alaska type B administrative certificate with an endorsement including elementary grade levels and a valid Alaska teaching (initial, professional, or master) or Alaska Type C special services certificate.Educators at a Kindergarten through 3rd grade school must meet requirements for the Alaska Reads Act. The following are preferred:Evidence of three years of successful public school experience.Evidence of three years of successful public elementary-level teaching experience.Evidence of two years of successful public elementary-level administrative experience.
