Director of School Counceling

Prince William County Public Schools is inviting applications for the following position: Director of School Counseling-High School Effective Date: July 1, 2026 Location: Charles J. Colgan High School Job Summary: This position serves as a member of the administrative team and provides leadership and organization for the members of the school counseling department as school counselors assist students in developing a realistic understanding of themselves, help students develop positive relationships with others, facilitate their academic growth, aid students in becoming self-directive, and assist students in planning and preparing for academic, career, and social and emotional experiences. Required Qualifications: Master's DegreeSchool counseling from an approved school counselor education program Meets Virginia requirements for certification with an endorsement as a school counselor Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Ability to uphold the ethical and professional standards of professional school counseling practices and support and maintain the development of a school counseling program that is based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model• Knowledgeable of counseling theory and practice, public relations, school law, personnel management, administration, supervision, curriculum and education processes• Leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
