Supervisory Education Program Specialist

Summary This position is part of the ADD Tribally Controlled Schools, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Department of the Interior (DOI). As a Supervisory Education Program Specialist you will be responsible for providing professional consultation to Associate Deputy Director and Education Program Administrators and provide assistance to schools in the planning, implementation, and management of Special Education for improving educational outcomes for all children with disabilities. The BIE's mission is to provide quality education opportunities from early childhood through life in accordance with the tribes' needs for cultural and economic well-being and in keeping with the wide diversity of American Indian tribes and Native Alaska villages as distinct cultural and governmental entities (25 CFR ? 32.3).Major Duties: As a Supervisory Education Program Specialist, GS-1720-14, your typical work assignments will include the following under supervision: Serve as the expert advisor and consultant to management, administrators, and educators within the district/region concerning special education programs and administrative issues. Develop and implement long-range and short-range professional program plans. Ensure schools submit Part B applications to supplement ISEP 15% instructional funds and that funds are utilized for intended purposes. Ensure schools develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student with disabilities. Monitor and ensure schools have the required licensure/certification for special education teachers, paraprofessionals and related service providers.
