Summary About the Position: This is a 0490 School Counselor (Elementary) and 0492 School Counselor (Secondary School) vacancy located at Ankara EHS. This vacancy announcement is open to all current, permanent DoDEA-Europe AND DoDEA-Pacific Educators, which includes current, permanent educators in Cuba. Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA), as one of only two Federally-operated school systems, is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of War (DoW). DoWEA is committed to ensuring that all school-aged children of military families are provided a world-class education that prepares them for postsecondary education and/or career success and to be leading contributors in their communities as well as in our 21st century globalized society.Major Duties: Develop, coordinate, and administer a comprehensive guidance and counseling program designed to aid in the facilitation of the DoWEA educational program and to promote the welfare of the students. Assist with the course selection process and scheduling for all students. Review records (cumulative files) of incoming students and informs Special Education staff members of information pertinent to that particular student's educational needs. Refer students with issues that are highly complicated or of a specialized nature to appropriate community resources, when such issues should not be handled at school level. Work with students to identify long-term educational objectives, career goals, and the projected employment market selected are realistic and relative to their interests and ability. Plan and implement DoWEA's system-wide assessment program at the school as directed.
