Summary This position is located at Fort Irwin, California School Age Services. Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee applicable to employees working at least 15 hours per week: First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child:25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Fort Irwin is a world class training center for America's Soldiers, known for its excellent desert training and vast recreational opportunities. Located approximately 37 miles NE of Barstow, California, in the High Mojave Desert midway between Las Vegas Nevada and Los Angeles, California, Fort Irwin has many fun activities such as Desert Discovery, 6 hole Pitch N' Putt golf course, Skeet and Trap range, High Adventure and Sightseeing Trips. Nearest airports are located in Ontario, CA (120 miles), Los Angeles (175 miles) and Las Vegas (180 miles). - Selectees may have the option to reside in On-Post Housing, at their own cost. As an added employee incentive, the Department of Defense (DoD) granted approval to extend temporary limited commissary privileges (excluding the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products) to CYS employees. This temporary approval expires 31 December 2026. This announcement will be used to fill positions across the CYS program in different facilities and age groups. Referrals will be based on the preferences you indicate in the application process.Major Duties: Serves as a Child and Youth Services (CYS) Assistant Director of a CYS Program with responsibility for assisting the supervisor in the operation of an assigned CYS program IAW all applicable regulations and standards. Provides program oversight and accountability for the performance of assigned staff and the safety and well being of children and youth IAW DoD, Army and local policies and standards. Assists in maintaining DoD/Army certification for assigned program areas, and helps ensure program achieves and retains national accreditation or Army equivalent and maintains accreditation/Army equivalent standards. Provides appropriate staff professional recognition and/or disciplinary action. Conducts written observations of staff during all hours of operation, and evaluates employees based on established performance standards. Works cooperatively with other CYS Managers to ensure seamless service and continuity of quality options for all children and youth. Serves as member of the CYS Program Plan Team to develop written strategies for program improvement.
