Summary This position will be at the Stony Child Development Center, West Point, New York. Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee: First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Available to MWR CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours). This position is Mission and Weather Essential. Located in the scenic Hudson Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. Child, Youth, and School (CYS) Services recognizes the challenges of our Soldiers, their Families and the Civilian workforce. Our mission, as Readiness Enablers, is to provide childcare to the West Point Community so that Soldiers and Civilians can complete their Army mission with the assurance of quality, reliable childcare. We believe that the most important contribution we can make to children's lives is to provide an environment that will foster the development of positive self-concept. About the Stony Child Development Center (CDC). The Stony Child Development Center (CDC) is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Combined with Army standards and regulations, NAEYC guides the CDC program towards the highest quality of care for your children. CDC classrooms are mixed age groups consisting of 6 weeks to 18 months, 16 months - 36 months, preschool and a separate pre-kindergarten program.Major Duties: Supervises children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities and on field trips, outings, and special events. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children and youth. Prepares and implements program options for children and youth with special requirements. Instructs team members in specific tasks and job techniques; makes available written instructions, reference materials, and supplies. Explains program guidance, procedures, policies, and directives to team members. Uses designated evaluation materials to ensure assigned area is in compliance with, Dept of Defense (DoD), and local installation standards. Ensures assigned area maintains standards for DoD certification and national accreditation or equivalent. Completes training requirements using approved service materials to include designated training modules. Performs other related duties as assigned.
