  Company operating name: Az-Zahraa Islamic AcademyBusiness address: 8580 No. 5 Road, Richmond, BC V6Y 2V4Employer contact: Zahra Kazemi, Member of the School Board, (604) 404-7922, hr@azia.ca, 8580 Number 5 Road, Richmond BC V6Y 2V4  Position: PrincipalLocation: Richmond, British Columbia Terms of employment: Full-time,  Hours: 40 hours per weekLanguage of work: EnglishSalary: $145,000 per year, compensation is reviewed annually, with consideration given to the Richmond School District salary grid. Benefits: Extended health and dental benefits, RRSP, wellness program, paid training, free parking, health spending account, and on-site daycare.Number of job vacancies: 1Job start date: As soon as possible  Job Description:We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Principal to provide educational leadership and oversee the day-to-day operations of our school.Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy (AZIA) is a Group 1 independent school in Richmond, British Columbia, serving studentsfrom Junior Kindergarten to Grade 7. The school provides a strong academic program in line with BC curriculum within a faith-based learning environment grounded in Islamic values.  Key Responsibilities:Oversee the operations of the school and its facilitiesOversee the school’s budgets in collaboration with the School Board TreasurerEnsure compliance with B.C. Ministry of Education regulations and standardsRecruit, hire, develop, and retain faculty and staffImplement best practices in education, curriculum, and assessment to support student engagement and learning Ensure student well-being and safety, address student concerns, and support students with diverse learning needsDevelop an annual School Plan aligned with the school’s strategic objectives and other priorities identified in collaboration with the School Board and staffOversee internal and external communications, including with parentsBuild relationships with neighbouring schools, local school districts, and associate secondary schools to supportsuccessful student transitions and community integrationEncourage parent participation in events and support for school goals through the Parent Volunteer GroupDesign and implement fundraising and volunteer strategies, programs, and eventsWork closely with the School’s Islamic Studies Director to cultivate an environment that promotes Islamic values and thinking among studentsFoster an environment of instructional excellence grounded in Islamic values and thinkingServe as the educational leader of the school by providing guidance and direction for academic and co-curricular programs governed by Islamic values and practices.  Job Requirements:BC Teaching Certificate is requiredA bachelor’s degree is requiredPrevious experience working at an independent school or private school10 or more years of experience in a teaching role in an elementary or secondary school setting3 or more years of experience in a school leadership role, such as department head, instructional leader, vice-principal, principal, or equivalent administrative roleDemonstrated success with developing, implementing, and managing strategy, policy, finances & budgets, andhuman resource processes such as hiring and evaluating staffDemonstrated success in staff supervision, teacher evaluation, curriculum leadership, and school operationsDemonstrated ability to build relationships with parents, staff, Board members, and community stakeholdersStrong understanding of Islamic beliefs, values, and practicesCommitted to nurture a strong Islamic identity and be a role model for both students and staff How to Apply:If you have the skills and experience required for this position, please forward your resume and cover letter to hr@azia.ca.
