School Counsellor, JK-12, Tulita, Chief Albert Wright SchoolSend your application to teach@sahtudec.caRequired Education and Recommended Knowledge, Qualifications and ExperienceBachelor of Education Degree and eligibility for a Northwest Territories' teaching certificate       Completion of post-secondary courses and / or program in counselling / mental health and well-beingExperience working with youth at the grade 8-12 level is an assetKnowledge and/or understanding of child and family developmentKnowledge and/or understanding of person centered confidentiality and counselling approachesKnowledge and/or understanding of trans-generational impacts of residential schoolingKnowledge and/or understanding of factors that impact learning, school success and social/emotional developmentKnowledge and/or understanding of social issues and community challenges experienced by students and familiesKnowledge and/or understanding of interventions to improve school attendance and student engagementEquivalencies will be considered.A vulnerable sector check is requiredRequired Skills and AbilitiesAbility to practice in a non-judgemental, culturally sensitive, and empathetic mannerExcellent written, verbal, listening and interpersonal communications skillsExcellent time management and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks at one timeAbility to proactively stay abreast of emerging issues and concerns within the communityAnalytical and problem solving skills Ablity to work independently and as part of a teamEffective negotiation and consultation skillsAbility to work in a multicultural setting with young people, teachers, school staff, and parentsStress management skillsAbility to engage in the rich cultural community experiences and extra-curricular offerings at the school as a way to build healthy respectful and positive relationshipsSalary Range: NWTTA / GNWT Collective Agreement $95,232 - $153,748 with a relocation allowance and a northern allowance of approximately $28,000.
